Weird Week

- Anne

I had a weird week and was on on the computer much at all. I would love to say that I was cleaning our house and doing laundry!! …but, I can’t! :-) I volunteered at Adam’s school for 3 days in his robotics class. I am AMAZED that he can understand simple programming logic! No kidding, he CAN! I am in LOVE with robotics! You can teach a child ANYTHING …you just have to try.

Andrew …oh …Andrew….my dear child. Finally I am seeing a little tiny bit of comfort. He is still fighting and angry about moving here…but, there are a few glimpses of contentment from him.  He misses every single part of living in New Hampshire…every single friend….every single part of his life. I just try to surround him with consistency and love and pray that it will get better.

Overall, life is just starting to feel like LIFE again. It feels like we are moving forward and the calmness is a steady pattern more often than not. I have a bit of confusion about my latest feelings. I feel a bit of guilt about liking it here at times. None of the books or relocation sites say anything about this feeling of guilt…..but, it is real and it is here. It is very hard to know that everyone is moving forward and that my not being “there” is ok…..it is odd, but it is real.

My promise to myself is to be true to my feelings no matter WHAT they are and who they affect. This freedom has allowed me to have the courage to write and share.  ..and I feel great about that.

now, back to real stuff! Has anyone seen speed racer? Knowing my neurosis about violence on TV and the movies, is there anything that is over the line for Andrew and Adam to see? They have asked to see it and I think it would be good…but, I can’t find any feedback concerning kids.

I have to go and get Adam. I will write more later today. I have a few funny stories  to share.

Seriously, the public resource in Calgary are Amazing! AMAZING!

We walked down to the train station (free) and came to the library. We returned our 2nd HUGE batch of items (7 videos and 17 books) and headed upstairs to pick out more. The boys were very excited to find the kids station had NO children on the computers OR a waiting list. The kids here are back in school and they are the ONLY kids in the kids section! They said they were the KING KIDS today.

It is sort of funny walking around with kids downtown on a school day. People must assume they are home schooled…sick….or SOMETHING, but, they do get a 2nd look! The novacaine(no IDEA how to spell it) is wearing off a bit, but, I do not feel any pain. I think the pain of having a partial tooth in there for this long is MUCH worse than any feeling I could have now.

The dentist asked if the pain from this tooth has bothered me in any way or caused me to be irritable. I laughed! Me….irritable?? COME ON! I won first place for irritability for the last few days…now we know WHY! I am SURE there are a few other reasons…but, I do feel a BIG sense of relief from this.

I am going to the accupuncturist tomorrow. I really believe in them. I have only gone 3 times in my entire life, but, each time the lasting effect has been tremendous. My hip is really bothering me from this horrible bed we have been sleeping in and my energy level is toxic. I really know that releasing some chemicals in this body can’t hurt…even though it creeps most people out.

The big news is…WE HAVE A BABYSITTER for tomorrow evening! We are only going out to dinner, but, I can’t tell you how EXCITED I am about the whole thing! I have also hired this person to assist us on Saturday when the moving truck gets here. She will make sure the boys are entertained, fed, and kept safe while all the moving is happening. My relocation book told me to do that for the moving day in NH, but, I did not pay attention….I am now….live and learn. It is too difficult to be able to parent and move….it is  TOO HARD…I hope she works out ok. She sounds really nice and since we will be right there, I don’t have to worry too  much about them being with a stranger for a long period.

I will blog with Claire about the school visit tonight. It is sort of funny…I will let Claire help me tell the story.

I am going grab my little guys from their little learning kiosks and find a yummy place for lunch.

I am ok with Calgary today. ..it is all sort of shaping up…in an odd way.

Tomorrow is officially YatesLaberge.com “WHAT DID U DO TODAY”…your turn to tell it all :-) I personally can’t wait to hear the updates.
