oh today…

- Anne

today is rainy…for the millionth day in a row.

but, it is a rare day. …VERY VERY rare.

Today is officially MY DAY OFF!!! Claire took the day off to go on Adam’s end of the year field trip to Leighton Art Centre

She drove them to school….and will bring them home….I am 100% off the hook….In preparation for my day off, I cleaned the house and did the rest of the laundry yesterday. I wanted to feel like my “to do” list was bit short. ….and as I lay here ………at 10:49am….. :-) I love it

With all the change in our lives it is hard sometimes. I am taking today just to sort of rejuvenate.

I don’t have many of the phone numbers that I used to have. They were on my cell phone and I had to change phones. I wanted to make a few calls this morning and I could not. :-( Send me some numbers!…

Our niece, Renee, is graduating from Trinity High School today (Claire’s sister’s oldest daughter). Hard to imagine this little girl that I met 15 years ago is on her way to college… Congrats Renee. You are an amazing person and we are so proud of you.  Your sense of humor, love of children, and love of life is beautiful.

Me…or all people….learning how to FINALLY be organized….imagine!

A few things that are really helping.

1. Cell phone alarms – I have an alarm on my cell phone to ring when it is time to leave to get Adam and one for Andrew.  I have to give credit to Kacey for this one! It helps every single day!

2. Google Calendar!!!! – Seriously….an amazing tool. I use it for my “to do” list also..but, a little differently. I put the items that I need accomplish on different days…to sort of schedule them in for time slots, rather than just having them on one list that overwelms me. It gives me a REALISTIC view of how many things need to be accomplished and EMAILS me a reminder to do it!!! If I don’t do it, I simply reassign it to a new day that is not so full. When I complete it, I delete the event.  It works for me! SERIOUSLY! I am getting stuff done and not really stressing out about it all the time like usual.

I know this is BASIC stuff for MOST people, but I have struggled for my entire life to get organized and I feel like I am making a LITTLE headway…

Any other suggestions you have, let me know….things I am still having a hard time staying on top of 100% of the time…laundry, cleaning, time for ME! :-)

Claire is sick. :-( She has something called dry sockets…or dry pockets…or something like that.. The weather here is VERY VERY dry and we are all having a hard time adjusting to it. Her face hurts and there is a lot of pressure behind her eye. She went to the Dr. today (because we have HEALTH INSURANCE!!) and got a prescription (which was paid for 100% by INSURANCE!!!) and she will hopefully start to heal. I bought a HUGE HUGE whole house humidifier tonight and I set it up in our bedroom on HIGH. I am hoping that helps somewhat. She is really really not feeling good. I feel horrible for her.

We had meetings with both of the boys’ teachers today. I will write more about that later.  I need to get my butt in BED!

I think I am FINALLY on a good sleeping schedule! FINALLY.

I have been on my own HORRIBLE pattern for YEARS and the move/time change has given me a little help. I am FINALLY going to bed at 10-11 and waking up naturally at 7 or so. It is SO much better to be in sync with the rest of my little family. Sleep is SO important to my little world….and I did not realize it. Yesterday I got ALL of our laundry done, took Adam to the library, found my hiding electronics, did a TINY bit of retail therapy,….does not sound like much …but, for me………the laundry would have been ENOUGH.

I am dehydrated. The air here is VERY VERY dry and I NEVER drink enough water. I woke up around 3am with a HUGE HUGE headache in the BACK of my head…. 100% NOT stress…..100% dehydration. We were warned by a BILLION people….but, I just simply FORGET! We have decided to get a water bubbler thingy….for our house. Just to remind us all….including the kids. Claire is the best at it…she drinks a ton of water at work.

The sun is out until almost 9pm here. It is sort of freaky. During the summer it will be out even longer. The boys used to go to bed at 7pm…now with FULL sun at 7pm…they have sort of revolted! :-) They are now around 8:00-8:30…which seems REALLY REALLY late for me….but, more realistic with the sun schedule. Their behavior is ok with the change, so I think it will probably be ok. Adam needs a nap here and there, but, not every day.

Guess what we get today??? CABLE TELEVISION!!!!!!!! We have been without TELEVISION for almost 2 weeks. I seriously DO NOT MISS IT…not even a LITTLE bit. The boys don’t even NOTICE. Claire on the other hand……….is a TV addict. I love the news…..but, can get it online.

I have a few movies that I did not publish because of my horrible laptop situation in the temp housing. I will put them online later today. They will seem like “oldies”…but, in reality they are only a few weeks old ! Funny how important timing is with media!

A morning blog is something different for me….but, I like it.

Have a super day every one!!!
